Job Description
The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, installing, and managing our databases. You will ensure optimal database performance by analyzing database issues and monitoring database performance.
Responsibilities
- Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases.
- Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
- Protecting the database against threats or unauthorized access.
- Define users and enable data distribution to the right user in an appropriate format and in a timely manner.
- Reporting on metrics regarding usage and performance.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of administering, managing, and tuning databases.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting production database server issues.
- Experience with clustering and replication configuration in MySQL.
- Experience with database indexing, stored procedures, triggers, and views.
- Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements.
- Strong understanding of information legislation, such as the Data Protection Act.
- Strong ability to troubleshoot in a Linux environment.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) is a plus.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
- Be available for on-call support as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Technology, or a related field of study
- Proven experience of SQL Servers
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
