Status And Tax Project Manager

Job Description

To provide professional project management leadership in exploring future working models for British Council Pakistan, including exploration of the viability of implementing status changes in Pakistan. Subject to approval, the incumbent may have to implement the Pakistan Status project in line with British Council strategy and corporate requirements within the Status Programme. Manage the project timeline and key milestones against the agreed project plan, in close collaboration with the relevant business teams in Pakistan, local advisors, SAP partners and the Status Project Coordinators in the UK.

Accountabilities

The incumbent will be accountable for the effective planning, management and delivery of the agreed plans. The successful candidate will be able to support and work with a broad range of colleagues to provide the collaborative yet challenging professional partnership which is core to this type of position. They need to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of key stakeholders and business leads, both within British Council Pakistan and beyond, to facilitate the effective, efficient and holistic delivery of the plan agreed on future ways of work.

The post holder should have experience of project management, change management and experience of how to embed people, process and system changes across the organization.

Responsibilities And Main Duties

  • Identify opportunities for British Council Pakistan in terms of future of work.
  • Explore the possibility of status and related tax changes for the British Council in Pakistan and develop a detailed project plan identifying how to transition smoothly to the new operating model if the business decides to go ahead.
  • Identify key stakeholders for each strand/work stream of the project and ensure that detailed plans are developed ready for implementation; strands will include Project Management (including identifying risks/challenges and developing mitigation plans to ensure a smooth and seamless transition), Premises (in close collaboration with outsourced consultants and relevant business teams), HR and Finance (in close consultation with HR and Finance colleagues), SAP, Tax, Governance and Legal, Branding, Communications
  • Agree and clarify targets, metrics and milestones for the project, in line with the regional strategy, and be accountable for overall adherence to qualitative standards in the pursuit of these goals.
  • Clarify and communicate the activities necessary to deliver specified project outputs with all the stakeholders and partners, ensuring deliverables fit the local context.
  • Control allocated resources (both financial and staff) to deliver agreed results.
  • Resolve immediate operational, commercial or technical problems and contribute to the incremental improvement of procedures in these areas
  • Lead effective day-to-day communication with identified internal and/or external partners to communicate delivery progress and to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Ensure there are plans to support the entity’s operations and processes are identified to train staff. This may involve:
    • Exploring local legal and tax requirements and internal British Council processes that may be applicable if Status changes are implemented in Pakistan.
    • Liaise with tax and legal advisors to understand the requirements of setting up the most efficient capital structure of the new entity.
    • Identifying any changes required to banking requirements that may be required to comply with the new status if changes are implemented and liaise with British Council London Treasury team to understand what changes will be required for new entity.
    • Working with local SAP partners to deliver a gap analysis, an agreed blueprint and statement of requirements to meet the statutory requirements of Pakistan in case of a new entity being set-up.
    • Understand the cut-over and go-live (such as transfer of assets to subsidiary) plus stabilisation requirements for the project.
  • Explore appropriate premises, resources and facilities requirement for any new entity with the relevant stakeholders and departments. Develop an accurate financial modelling for the project.
  • Liaise with the country EDI (Equality Diversity and Inclusion) team for impact assessments where appropriate

Role Requirements

  • Must have the right to work in Pakistan
  • 7 Years demonstrated Project Management experience.
  • At least 2 years experience in an organisational consultancy role.
  • Track record in managing projects with multiple stakeholders and drawing on external advice
